Periods of ancient egypt
The ancient empire. The ancient
empire spanned nearly 1,000 years. In this period the foundations of the state
and society of Egypt were laid. Pharaoh was already considered a god and
concentrated all political and religious power. The capital was Memfis and the
most prominent pharaohs were Kheops, Kefren and Micerí. Around 2,200 BC began a
time of crisi that caused the fall of the ancient empire.
The middle empire. The middle
empire, with the capital Thebes, lasted almost 300 years. In this period the
power of the pharaoh increased, new cities were created, public works were
built and arable land was expanded. In addition, there was a great expansion to
the south, with the conquest of Nubia. From 1800 BC, Egypt was invaded by
foreign peoples.
The new empire. Around 1600 BC
began the new empire, which lasted about 500 years. It was a time of splendor,
where the Pharaohs Tuthmosis I, Amenofis III, Akhenaton, Tutankhamun and Ramesses
II stood out. Egypt conquered Lip and Siria, and large temples and palaces were
built.
From 1100 BC, Egypt was invaded by Sryrarchian peoples such as the Assyrians, the Persians, the Greeks and the Romans.
